Bosch Ovens, What Model is Right for You?
Whether you are building your own home, re-designing your kitchen, are a contractor, or just looking to replace your current oven, Bosch ovens come in all types of models from wall units, to stainless steel, to double ovens, to microwave combination ovens, providing you a unique ability to multi task in the kitchen.
All Bosch ovens are German engineered and part of the Siemens Home Appliances Group.
Bosch produces four oven ranges:
- Premium Logixx ovens
- mid-range Exxcel ovens
- added value Avatixx ovens
- and simple yet functional Classixx ovens
All four vary greatly in price so search thoroughly to find one that suits your budget and your needs in the kitchen.
Bosch Logixx Ovens
The Logixx line of ovens are built-in compact ovens with recessed heating elements, convection baking, and a fast pre-heat ability. The Logixx holds heat well and is very quiet to operate, especially in convection mode. The controls are simple to understand and operate. It also features a hidden lower element that makes the Logixx oven floor very easy to clean.
They do feature a safety feature that can be a benefit, or an inconvenience, depending on the baker; in the broiling mode the oven will turn off the element if the oven door is opened. For those wishing to manually monitor say, the browning of a casserole, this function can be frustrating.
Yet if you have small children in the house, or simply don’t want to singe the hair off the back of your arm when reaching in to remove a dish, this function can be a good safety feature.
Another feature to note on the Logixx oven is the convection mode. The convection mode used a fan to circulate air within the oven, yet a true convection mode would be coupled with a separate heating element to more evenly distribute heat.
Bosch Exxcel Ovens
This built in double oven is a mid-range model with pop out controls and a large capacity main oven.It features 8 cooking functions:
- 3D hot air
- defrost
- full and half width variable grills
- hot air grilling
- pizza function
- conventional top and bottom heat, and bottom heat
The Exxcel models have a fast preheat function as well and 67 liter capacity. These are energy efficient models with two year warranties.
Bosch Avantixx Ovens
The Avanitixx carries the most model options in the Bosch oven line. Avantixx has a pyro lytic feature that allows it to use extreme heat to oxidize dirt in the self-cleaning mode, while maintaining it’s A energy rating. Like the Exxcel and Logixx the Avantixx also features the fast pre-heat function. This model is a great value for your money.Unfortunately, some of the safety features on this model need some revamping. It features retractable knobs, and a child safety lock on the controls, but both features only work when the oven is off. If you have children in your home these features would make more sense to be activated while the oven is in use.
Bosch Classixx Ovens
Again this is a built in model. It features five cooking functions: 3D hot air, full width variable grill, hot air grilling, and conventional top and bottom heat. This Bosch oven carries the class A efficiency rating as well.Overall reviewers seem to be quite happy with this model. A small issue with the cleaning as the Classixx is not coated on the sides with the pyro lytic feature, and the timer can be a little sensitive, but it is easy to use, quiet and a good value for the money.
